Founded in the sixteenth century, the economic vocation of the city does not appear untill the twentieth century at the time of the creation of port infrastructures. General Lyautey decided in 1912 to make this town the economic capital of Morocco.

The Hassan II : This is one of the most important monuments in the world. A masterpieces of Islamic art wich is generously sized and located on the Atlantic Ocean. Designed by architect Michel Pinseau, Hassan II Mosque can accommodate 25,000 worshipers at the domestic level and has the highest minaret of the World : 210 meters.
It was built by the Moroccan subsidiary of the Bouygues Group : Bymaro company.
